Re: BSG: The Plan
Tue, November 3, 2009 - 2:49 AMAfter the series finale, "The Plan" is like a dinner invitation from the ex- one thought one would marry but at last moment realized was a paranoid, jealous, pathological liar.

Re: BSG: The Plan
Wed, November 4, 2009 - 4:17 PMSeen it. Pretty clearly illustrates my point: they didn't have a plan.
the Galactica fleet should have been no problem. Just volunteer for Tylium refining and shut that ship down. Or get another ship (a running man can slit 1000 throats in a single night) and ram the galactica, the tylium ship, colonial one, whatever. -

Re: BSG: The Plan
Wed, November 4, 2009 - 7:50 PMIt basically boiled down to the Cavils wanted humans to suffer and die but wasn't willing to actually do anything in order to get that done. With the exception of the kid at the end, he did nothing to get his own hands dirty. Even that act seemed out of place.
I enjoyed it on some level, but again it was severely lacking in...something. And was anyone else bothered by the overt sexuality of that and Caprica (pilot)? I have no problem with sex and its portrayal on film, it just seemed gratuitous and out of place.
I think it boils down to the whole film was out of place.... -

I was disappointed in that, instead of providing more insight into what prompted the Cylon attack, what their religious thoughts were, what they plotted, why they boxed themselves, why and how exactly did Cavil erase the memories of the original five?? They instead, concentrated on the hatred and bigotry that possessed Cavil not only, for the humans but for his fellow numbered cylons and the centurions as well. It reminded me of "The Prophecy" and similiar "War in Heaven" type movies where the Angels are all jealous of man because God gave them this gift of reason and free will.
It was interesting however, in that the primary thread all related to how the Cylon models appreciated, liked and loved humans. It was/is their love for them that made them do the things they did (sorry don't want to give everything away to those who have'nt seen it). They did a good job of taking those moments from the series and intertwining the current story within it.
My real appreciation for this though, was the Triad/Pyramid training camp and being able to see just a bit more of their interpretation of how the game is played. I have a serious interest in this game and have been slowly compiling the various clips from the original and new series. After this show however I believe my initial theory is correct in that they are playing a more physical type of Team Handball

Fri, November 6, 2009 - 5:16 PMI like the fact that it was RDM who carried fizzbin from one series to the other without explanation. I'd bet a lot of quirks like this could be attributed to him.

Re: BSG: The Plan
Fri, November 6, 2009 - 1:16 PMI think my favorite part was the hybrid answering another question that was posted some time ago about the system(s) of the colonies.
"12 planets, 3 stars" indicating that ftl was probably necessary for colonial communication. -

I have to say, that I felt that some of the mystery of the BSG series was diminished because of 'The Plan'. For example, the Shelly Godfrey character/episode. The question as to whether she was an actual "person" or sort of like angel-Kara left a bit of mystique to the story. I liked that. It felt too simple to just say, nope, she is a cylon.
I did enjoy 'The Plan'.
