the fifth cylon

Ok....Xena..oops...cough...said..'so beautiful' when she saw the fifth.....not sure but I believe that would mean it is a woman...(would a woman say that about a male???)...and...we've seen all of the four go through some very tough times and recover (except for the prez's advisor - not sure why she is a cylon unless it's affirmative action at work)....obvious is not an option, that's why I think Kara is out...but......could the fifth be the future proto-type?..........a proto that is just a child at the moment?....the ultimate future combination that combines humans and cylons into one race?....whom ever it is, it is an interesting fracking discussion.

Why the president's advisor is a Cylon: if you'll notice, all of the first four of the final five are from different walks of life: Anders--Civilian (or at least he was, until recently becoming a viper pilot; still, I don't really think of his military ties as being as crucial to his identity because (a) if not for the war he probably wouldn't have joined/wouldn't have been needed if not for the circumstances of the fleet and (b) again, he only became military recently); Tigh--military, Tyrol--working class, and Tori--the government.

Personally, here's my take on the last five:

    1. The writers of the show are good and I would like to have some faith that they would not make the artistically disappointing move of making the last Cylon someone very obvious or else someone that most people would expect--Kara Thrace, Admiral Adama, Laura Roslin, and Gaius Baltar all fall into this category.

    2. I do think the last Cylon is a female (or at least should be) because (a) most of the other Cylons have been men so it would be more balanced out.

    3. Some people I'd like to see as the last Cylon: (if the last Cylon is a known character)

if it's female: Admiral Cain (she's crazy and somewhat psychotic, but still one of my favorite characters)

male: Billy, Lee Adama (that would be a huge shock considering it would also mean that he's probably not Bill's real son so it would be doubly devastating, but then again since Lee's gf on Caprica was pregnant with his child, this is probably unlikely...still, it would be a neat plot twist and if Chief could have a child and still be a Cylon, maybe this could have happened with Lee too), Zak Adama (same reason as Lee), Felix Gaeta, maybe Hot Dog, Tom Zarek

I *do* think it would be interesting if the last Cylon was a child...but would prefer that it be fully Cylon and not half-human

I hope that the last Cylon won't be like Tori and be a character that no one really cared much about before...though I *would* like the character to be someone not obvious/a character that most people would not suspect. As for people I think the last Cylon could be, I also wouldn't count out one of the women currently looking after Gaius, Paya's mother (the hooker Lee was with for awhile), Dualla, the lady who adopted Hera and then died on New Caprica, Ellen, Kat, maybe the weird fortune-teller lady...I'm really hoping it's not that prophetess from Gemenon because she annoyed the frack out of me

    4. I think that the last Cylon will probably be a 'known' character rather than one who has never shown up in the series. I'm not sure, however, that it would be a character who is currently alive: the last Cylon, if already dead, could have had another resurrection ship/resurrected away from the other Cylons so as not to be detected...however, it is possible (though unlikely) that a completely new person would be the last one

    5. I am almost sure that the last five will be found out by the fleet, and I think Tigh will probably be the first because (a) he mentioned awhile ago that he never had kids so people could use that against them if they started to suspect him; (b) during the trial, he publicly--in front of everyone--acknowledged that he had been hearing that music (though most people did think it was the alcohol talking, so maybe they might not make anything of it...but then again, they might). I am very curious to see what happens when Bill finds out that Tigh is a Cylon.

    6. I'm also wondering if the first four of the final five have any idea as to who the final Cylon is

    7. I'm also wondering how the last five are different. Some thoughts:
    a. There was some kind of war, fight, dispute, or something that caused the two groups to separate
    b. the last five are descendants of the 13th tribe
    c. maybe that last five all want to save humanity, which is why they are all (or at least it appears to be that way) in the Colonial Fleet; maybe that was what started the argument in the first place and why the groups split
    d. maybe the final five created the other seven
    e. maybe the final five cannot resurrect and be downloaded
    f. maybe the final five can have children (specifically, Chief does...although the theory that the Cylons have about love being necessary for this may explain that away)
    g. maybe the final five are able to age, which explains Tigh

still trying to figure it all out

p.s. as to the walks of life thing, that leads me to speculate that the last Cylon may be from either a different field or a different way of life; some of the ways that are not represented are criminals and religious leaders; also (and correct me if I'm wrong) I think the first four of the last five are all from Caprica, so maybe the last Cylon represents the poor and disenfranchised or else one of the poorer colonies

I also wonder if the last Cylon really is the 'supreme Cylon' in that she/he is superior to the other four and to the seven other humanoid models or, if not, what caused this one to be the last to be revealed (and also I wonder as to how the switch will be flipped, if it hasn't already been flipped, and also when)

Ahhh.....I think we should remember a line about the Cylons can 'project'...suppose, just suppose, that when the fifth was observed by ....Adrianna (?_/.//Xena).....aka the 'boxed babe'....she saw a child grown????.......the most interesting 'wrench in the works' would be the brother of Lee Adama coming back as the fifth.......that would have more ripples than a charpai dog...:)

I suspect Gaeta is the final cylon.
    1) he just hapened to wander over to talk to Baltar in the middle of the night just as Baltar was attempting suicide.
    2) 3 of the known 4, Tigh, Anders and Tyrol, were leaders of the resistance. Gaeta supplied the resistance with critical information.
    3) the known 4s tend to be people just on the side of the people in power or in some second in command position. this gives them a lot of power without as much notarity. Tigh is Adama's XO. There's the president's advisor. Tyrol doesn't actually fly vipers, but he has his hand in all of them as chief of the flight deck. Anders is married to Kara, who has a special destiny. Likewise, Gaeta was Baltar's lead advisor, and has pretty high rank on the bridge---I think he's 4th in command behind Adama, then TIgh, then Helo.

I suspect that the "so beautiful" remark was the essential of looking at the beauty of the glory of God, which is what the 3s are looking for. Remember, this is the same one who habitually went through the death/ressurection process so that she could experience the beauty between death and life.

I'm still banking on Adm. Cain as the final Cylon.

Long shot as a Cylon...Dualla "Dee". Why? Because on one has mentioned her since she's a bit of a "minor" character and it seems like the writers like to frack with us in that way.

I agree that Gaeta is the best bet right now to be the Final One.

The theory that it is likely to be a female, just because it would be more balanced, is flawed. One more Cylon being a woman would bring the gender balance to 7 male, 5 female. So there's no evidence the Cylons have a grand plan for even numbers.

My theory is that the 12 known Cylon models each come from one of the recognized 12 Colonies (duh?). (Have we already discussed this at length? I'm new to this tribe.) But this is useless in providing clues as to who the Final One model is.... it only has potential become a very interesting plot point later on.

Which brings us to how the story could end... Earth being the 13th colony, it's where Humans and Cylons may finally make peace (after the most evil Cylons are destroyed in a huge 2-episode Final Battle, the near-destruction of the human race is avenged, and only the "good" ones like Sharon remain) and decide to live together for their mutual survivial.

If Gaeta is the final Cylon why did he not "activate" along with everyone else?

No, My guess is we will find the Final Cylon along the way, some hermit stranded in an outpost. Kinda. Or he'll come straight outta nowhere.

As for the four revealed Cylons, they are all similar in that they are vested protectors of the leaders. They SERVE the humans. The President's aide, the Pilot's husband, the ship's mechanic, the Commander's second.

Hmmmm..... What if they're playing Tricia Helfer so much because somehow another version of her *IS* the final Cylon? Like a twin model... or... something....

I think all the talk of the Cylons embedding human-like models based on their roles on the ship is barking up the wrong tree... I don't think it works that way. But by your argument, Gaeta has a much more crucial role in the fleet than Anders, as he is in charge of all the technology aboard Galactica, as well as having been President Baltar's right hand during the time on New Caprica -- he's in service of humans in a big way. Maybe there's a reason he could not kill Baltar ("butterfingers!!" -- that was classic)... his Cylon programming prevented him from "pulling the trigger" on the key human figure in the Cylon Plan, perhaps. Just thinkin out loud.

But I also said that I thought the Final Five model that D'Anna spoke to is the Final One, and that would be Lt. Gaeta... and I can't think of any time she had direct contact with him, though. So.... I guess all our theories are half baked!

I agree with the "activating" along with everyone else idea. And, the idea of the 5th not being someone that we see regularly on the show (at least not someone who resides primarily on Galactica).

I'm intrigued with the idea of the 5th being one of the hapa babies?... OR, my new idea, of it being 'The Hybrid?' OR, the psychic woman who we've seen Kara talk with and who told Deanna about Hera?

dammit... that's a good argument against dee... if she were one of the final five, she would have activated along with everyone else...

unless she already knows she's a cylon and felt no need to answer the siren call of the watchtower... i mean, sharon didn't show up in that room either...

            i'm still betting on dee...

I just assumed that Starbuck was the 5th cylon. But then again, I missed the premiere episode of the final season yet. Going to try to find someone who has it recorded or else look for it on Hulu.

beats humming "All Along the Watchtower" .... we all know what THAT means.

But "Rainy Day Women" would've been more entertaining, huh? Instead of Tigh growling "there must be some kind of way out of here".... it'd be "everybody must git stoned!!"

<< Long shot as a Cylon...Dualla "Dee". Why? Because on one has mentioned her since she's a bit of a "minor" character and it seems like the writers like to frack with us in that way. >>

I always thought Dee was going to be one of the final five. She was so close to all the power figures -- next to the Admiral by day, and Billy (aide to the President) then Apollo by night. I was surprised when it was Tori instead.

<< But I also said that I thought the Final Five model that D'Anna spoke to is the Final One, and that would be Lt. Gaeta... and I can't think of any time she had direct contact with him, though. >>

I had the impression that she was apologizing to Tigh. After all, they did pluck out one of his eyes.

As for the fifth, I think it's going to be either Ellen or Cain and they are both highly flawed (or at least amoral) characters. Cain is probably the best bet but a romantic part of me hopes that Tigh won't have truly lost the great love of his life. Ellen's desperation to save Tigh on New Caprica (which seemed a little out of character to me at the time) would make more sense if she too was a cylon -- it would certainly explain why they never had kids. Also, her explanation of how she just suddenly showed up with the fleet that first season always had a fishy smell to it. And do we really know that she is dead? He poisoned her, yes. But he had to leave in a hurry. If it wasn't enough to kill her, she could still be around.

i put my money on dee as a cylon way back in the first season and that's still my bet... can't give you a list of reasons... just have always felt that way about her... i know, lame, but that's all i've got...

I'm putting all my money on Dee...and if I'm wrong, then I shall strip naked and run through Golden Gate Park (since I'm in SF) and scream at the top of my lungs: "I love Dualla Dee!!!" (she's so hot).

(I really won't - it's super cold in GGP at night and I'm prone to shrinkage...even without the cold).
